Privacy policy
Baby Name List is a reference site. It has no accounts, no sign-up and no contact form, and it asks you for nothing.
The short version
- We collect no personal information from you directly.
- We set no cookies of our own and store nothing in your browser.
- We run no analytics of our own. Our host collects aggregate performance measurements — see Hosting below.
- Two third parties are involved: our host and our advertising provider. Both are described below.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing. There is no form on this site that submits personal information, no account to create, and no newsletter. We hold no database of visitors.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives the information your browser sends when it requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser and operating system, and the page you came from. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and to protect it from attack and abuse.
Cloudflare may set its own cookies for security purposes — typically one
named __cf_bm, used to distinguish people from automated traffic.
We do not control or read these. Cloudflare's own privacy policy governs how
it handles this data.
Cloudflare also measures page performance from the browser, using a small script it serves. This reports timings such as how long a page took to render. It sets no cookie and does not identify you, and we see only aggregate figures.
Advertising
This site is served advertising by Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at optout.aboutads.info.

Your consent choices
Consent is managed by Google's own consent tool. While ads are shown:
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before advertising cookies or personalised ads are used. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the Privacy and cookie settings link at the foot of the page.
- If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, such as California, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information through the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link at the foot of the page.
We do not receive, and cannot see, any personal information Google collects through these ads. We see only aggregate earnings reporting.
Typefaces
The two typefaces are served from this site, not from a third party. Loading them discloses nothing to anyone else.
Search
The name search runs entirely in your browser. Your browser downloads the list of names once and matches against it locally; what you type is never sent to us as a search query.
One thing to be aware of: when you submit the search form, the term appears
in the page address, as in /search/?q=amelia. That address is
requested from the host in the ordinary way, so the term appears in server
logs alongside the request. Typing in the box without submitting sends
nothing.

Children
This site is intended for adults choosing names. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, and to object to its processing. We hold no personal information about you, so in practice there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Requests concerning data held by Google or Cloudflare are best made to them directly, as they are the parties that hold it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date below will change with it. There is no version history; the current text is the whole policy.
